Inland Seas Education Association Inspires Great Lakes Stewardship

Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA) is dedicated to protecting the Great Lakes through hands-on educational experiences. Located in Suttons Bay, this nonprofit organization aims to inspire curiosity, stewardship and passion for the Great Lakes in people of all ages. Since its inception in 1989, ISEA has engaged over 165,000 participants in experiential learning aboard traditionally rigged tall ship schooners and in local rivers, streams and wetlands.

ISEA’s mission is to provide meaningful educational experiences that foster a lifetime commitment to the Great Lakes’ resilience. The organization believes that the scientists and citizens who will tackle the Great Lakes’ future challenges are being shaped today through their programs. ISEA’s volunteers, numbering over 120, play a crucial role in the success of its mission, ensuring the continuation of its impactful work.

The association’s core values include stewardship, education, diversity and integrity. ISEA promotes an ethic of caring for the Great Lakes, offers educational experiences that inspire hope and enjoyment and embraces diversity within its community.
