Early Cancer Detection Enhanced with Galleri Test

The innovative Galleri test, a cutting-edge blood test designed to detect early signs of cancer, is a simple blood draw that can identify cancer-associated DNA, and provide potential clues to cancer at its earliest stages. This advancement offers hope for better outcomes through early detection, particularly for cancers that lack standard screening tests.
Currently, only five types of cancer—breast, colorectal, prostate, cervical and lung (for high-risk individuals)—have recommended screenings. Unfortunately, these types represent only a fraction of the cancers that can lead to fatalities. In the United States, approximately 71 percent of cancer deaths are from cancers without recommended screening guidelines. The Galleri test can screen for multiple cancers, including those like pancreatic, ovarian and stomach cancers, which often go undetected until advanced stages.
The importance of early detection cannot be overstated. According to recent research by Mayo Clinic, there is a stark contrast in five-year mortality rates between early and late-stage cancer detection—11 percent versus 79 percent, respectively. This emphasizes the critical need for comprehensive screening options like the Galleri test, especially for individuals over the age of 50, who are at significantly higher risk for developing cancer.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including regular screenings, is essential for early detection and improved treatment outcomes. Wycoff Wellness Center encourages everyone, particularly those at increased risk, to consider the Galleri test as part of their health regimen, and is hosting a free informative seminar on this cutting edge testing for the detection of cancer from 6 to 8 p.m., on September 11, 2024.
